Over the past week of watching delayed olympics already knowing who won, I find myself wondering if I am really living up to my potential.
Why could I not have been an amazing olympic athlete?
Because my destiny was to teach the youth of america. Gasp. No. I want a new destiny.
What would be a good destiny to chose? I know normally one does not get to choose their own destiny, but I am really tight with god and he is totally cool with it.
There is only one real choice for the best destiny of all time. To be able to literally become characters in my favorite books and jump from book to book, living multiple amazing lives through the words of the writers throughout history.
Naturally.
There are so many books to choose from where shall I start??
I’m thinking Green Eggs and Ham. A true classic.
Never Contrary,
If I could be a character of a book and jump out of it, I would probably choose
White Baby Jesus from the New Testament… I don’t know… Characters from the novels I truly enjoyed are all either extremely neurotic, and not really “the best of people”, and I’m thinking Milan Kundera, Dostoievsky, Balzac, Paul Austere, etc……….Le Clown
Stick with Jesus, just get out of the book when you see the lumber being delivered.
I like the books with the women assassins that can do magic and kill demons. Because that would be awesome.
NC,
The Bible?
Le Clown
Ha Ha, there is not enough sex for those characters in the bible and they have to follow all of these weird rules. I prefer to make my own rules.
I’d start with Jo March. And then Achilles. And then Amelia Bedelia.
Oh Amelia Bedelia that would be so much fun!
Hermione Granger, just so I could say “Wingardium leviosa” and have something actually happen.
Plus you get to be the smartest girl in school.
You’re writing your own book – and as such can be whoever you want. Though I think you’re pretty amazing..
awe thank you. That is very sweet.
Huck Finn is who I’d start with.. He chills out on the raft and learns about life on the way..Then off to Anna Karina, although I’d leave that book before she dies 🙂
Yeah do not want to go through painful deaths.
Green Eggs and Ham is a good starting point, although those eggs looked cold and soggy by the end of the book. Maybe you could let us know?
I will let you know. I am thinking the book travels at super fast speed and the eggs stay magically warm. That or they are fake eggs the whole time.
I would start with Captain Underpants.
I remember the cartoon, but I cannot recall the books.
Hmmm, I would be One of the famous five. Those kids got to do so much cool stuff!
What book is that?
YES, YOU HAVE TO JUMP IN THEIR SOMEWHERE AND YOUR PLACE OF CHOICE IS AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER. YOU ARE RIGHT + MAYBE WE CANNOT CHANGE OUR DESTINY (ALTHOUGH WE CAN MAKE CHOICES WITHIN THE PERAMETRES GIVEN US) BUT BOOKS DO TRULY GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITIES TO CHECK OUT NEW SPOTS, NEW EXPERIENCES, NEW THOUGHTS AND NEW PERSONALITIES. HOWEVER, ONE HAS TO WONDER ABOUT THAT BECAUSE IN THE END DO WE NOT CHOOSE THE BOOKS WHICH ALIGN WITH WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE BELIEVE AND WHAT WE THINK IN GENERAL – INTERESTS, LIKES, DISLIKE, ETC TYPE OF STUFF – SO HARD TO SAY ABOUT ALL THIS FREEDOM OF CHOICE WE MAY FEEL WE HAVE. WE DO WHAT WE CAN AND PROCEED FROM THERE. ALL THINGS GOOD AND BAD LIE BETWEEN TWO POINTS – THAT WHICH WE HAVE AND THAT WHICH WE WANT – AND THE FARTHER APART THESE POINTS THE GREATER OUR NEGATIVE FEELINGS AND CONVERSELY, THE CLOSER THE TWO POINTS THE HAPPIER AND MORE CONTENT WE FEEL. DEPENDS WHERE YOU PERSONALLY SIT – MAYBE YOU ARE EXACTLY WHERE YOU NEED TO BE AND HENCE SHOULD BE????
Wonderful thoughts.
this was a great piece
Why thank you.
o.m.g. Did you read my mind on what I’ve always planned to ask as one of my three wishes from the genie?!
Why yes I did.
I’ve always loved imagining what it would be like to be a borrower, as in The Borrowers and the sequels by Mary Norton. And Robinson Crusoe.
I love the borrowers.
I’ve been singing and writing songs since I was able to pick up a hair brush and pretend it was a microphone. That’s what I wish my destiny was. But your idea is so cool and makes me wonder about the books I’ve read, who I would want to be in them.
I think you should reach out and grab that destiny!
Could you would you, on a blog? Could you would you, with a hog? Oh yea. Definitely.
