A Generation Disappointed

A generation

disappointed

looking for

someone

to

blame

torches lit

fear

fanning the flames

hatred woven

within the

lies

flying past

you

be careful

not to breath them in

Because you see

It wasn’t me

It wasn’t you

It wasn’t them

We came here

together

we cannot

leave

alone

goodness, hospitality, humanity

What is kindness?

Does it even exist anymore?

I think

I saw some kindness

once

but, I can’t be sure.

What does it look like?

Is it religion?

Is it faith?

Maybe it is much

simpler

than that.

If you looked for it

everyday

all day

how much would you

find?

Is it too

late

for me

or

you

Maybe if we can

find some

hope

it will

lead us

to

kindness.

Will you recognize it?

Ani Difranco just might be the love of your life

In crazy wild news I was freshly pressed today! Welcome new followers to the wild and crazy world of my blog!

Ani Difranco is my favorite artist. To put it in her music has the kind of beauty that moves. She is able to express the deep emotions that I have yet to learn how to put into words. It is as though she knows how to reach deep within the soul and find meaning in an often meaningless world.

squint your eyes and look closer
I’m not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I’m beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you’re going to get hungry
and eat most of the words you just saidboth my parents taught me about good will
and I have done well by their names
just the kindness I’ve lavished on strangers
is more than I can explain
still there’s many who’ve turned out their porch lights
just so I would think they were not home
and hid in the dark of their windows
til I’d passed and left them alone

and god help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a phoenix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying back

I’m not trying to give my life meaning
by demeaning you
and I would like to state for the record
I did everything that I could do
I’m not saying that I’m a saint
I just don’t want to live that way
no, I will never be a saint
but I will always say

squint your eyes and look closer
I’m not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I’m beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you might find you’re starving
and eating all of the words you said

All consuming Fear

Deep inside

In the depths of your soul

It waits

patiently

to consume you

Are you ready?

I am fighting back

are you?

I will not let the fear win

not today

Fear is Powerful and

STRONG

if you are not careful

it will change you

so slowly

you won’t even feel it

until one day

you are one of them

on tv

warning of the end of all that we hold dear

because you chose to

let

fear

in

Hate is cheap and easy just like your mom

Hate

it comes in many disguises

are you sure you can see them all?

It can be hidden in your heart

flashing on your tv

written into a joke

it can be the simple act of remaining silent

silence

what hate are you ignoring?

Does it leave you feeling sick?

maybe

your problems have you in your own hole

and you can’t see out

is it dark in there?

What do you do when it rains down there in that hole?

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would simply reach down and

help

you out?

Why is no one willing to help?

Where has compassion gone?

Oh I’m sorry I forgot compassion is too

Expensive

Let’s be honest

Let’s be honest

Do you even know how

to tell the truth?

When you look in the mirror

What do you see?

Are you proud?

If I were you

I wouldn’t be

Or have you gone too far

that you cannot see

who you are

anymore?

Deep down

I know you are in there

That you don’t even believe the

lies

you tell yourself

What happened?

When did you give yourself over to

anger and hate?

Why are you taking us all down with

you?

Please

Let

Love

In

Misunderstanding

You’ve never met me

Yet the thought of me fills you with hate

You are not perfect

Yet you want me to be

You bend the rules to fit your whims

Yet you hold firm the rules for me

You will never understand love

Yet I will always love you

You wish me harm

Yet I wish you peace and understanding

At the end neither you nor I will exist

Only what we taught others lives on

Are you leaving love?

Are you leaving compassion?

Are you leaving fear?

Are you leaving hate?
