I often wonder how we got here. When did our lives become so instant that we could not be bothered to see something from someone else’s perspective?  I suppose that I could be excited that everyone has become so passionate. But, I am not one for simply just being satisfied with ok. We can be so much better than this.

What happened to compassion? Empathy? Understanding?

For me, I find this hardest in the middle of the mommy wars. Can you blame me? My life is small children right now. I have friends commenting that no one should get vaccines, others saying those not getting them are stupid and ruining america. Friends saying mothers are awful if their child died in a car wreck in a car seat they would not have used. Seriously, is it so hard to believe that for the most part we are all trying our best? Yes, people fuck up, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t do the best they were capable of.

So to everyone out there. I am not judging you. You are doing awesome at this life thing. Because life is hard and I am not perfect at it either.

Unless you don’t like to hike. Then forget it. I am totally judging you right now.

Goodness, hospitality, humanity 

 

What is kindness?

Does it even exist anymore?

I think

I saw some kindness 

once

but, I can’t be sure.

What does it look like?

Is it religion?

Is it faith?

Maybe it is much

simpler

than that.

If you looked for it

everyday

all day

how much would you

find?

Is it too

late

for me

or

you

Maybe if we can

find some

hope 

it will

lead us

to

kindness.

Will you recognize it?

Here is a match to put out that fire you started

It seems

these days

that

anger 

is all the rage

quick

come here

let me whisper something

mean

and

hurtful

about that

person

over there

I am

so much better

than them

blah blah

blah hate

blah blah

blah anger….

blah blah

blah

 

Slow down

give them

the benefit of a doubt

maybe

just

maybe

you do not know

the whole story

 

Can you fight fire

with fire?

 

Can you stop

a flood with more water?

 

Can you stand up

and demand

kindness?

 

How much

longer

will we all

sit by

and let the

angry

win?

Inspiration comes in many forms

I thought I would follow up yesterdays post with something inspirational. There are some truly inspirational women in this world. If you are willing to listen they have more to offer than most you can possibly imagine.

This was said by Mother Theresa. I hope that it gives you the much needed touch of love and wisdom that it gives to me.

Hate is cheap and easy just like your mom

help

Why is no one willing to help?

Where has compassion gone?

I follow the Dali Lama on twitter. Yep. He tweets everyday an hour before I wake up. It is positive words of wisdom and compassion that I love starting my day with. A nice reminder that no matter what someone does or says you should show them compassion and love. Something I must admit I often find challenging. Especially as long as Rick Perry is making commercials reminding me about how I have to celebrate Christmas in fear every year. Damn war on religion.
