Summer is slowly trickling in this week. The air has begun to thicken. Moisture has begun to wind its way through the trees and up into my house. The camelias have bloomed all over the city. Their beautiful petals floating through the breeze.
Summer brings so many wonderful South Louisiana traditions. Warm afternoons of Jazz in the hot sun while drinking a strawberry beer. Hot Boiled crawfish spread across a picnic table covered in newspaper.
This time of year it is easy to forget that soon it will be so hot that you will not be able to remember what cold is. But for now I will sip my sweet tea on the back porch and look lovingly on the blooming flowers as the heat soothes my winter soul.
Oh how I long to be there! We are still having snow.
I used to live in Minnesnowta so I totally understand that feeling.
I’m loving our early spring. Don’t miss the non-winter at all. Come on heat and rain!
I must say I am so ready to plant my veggies !
I already have! It’s the tomatos I’m dying to put into the ground. Waiting for a good rainfall first…probably this weekend. I’m giddy.
BTW, I hope you wouldn’t mind if I include a link to your “Math Rocks…” post. My post is already written and will auto-publish on 3/14 in honor of a really awsome day…
Totally link it ! Thanks so much ! I am going to plant in a week or two, super pumped.
Good. I think you’ll get a kick out of it. My husband (the math geek) certainly did.
Spring made a brief stop here, but winter is making a comeback. I envy you.
The ground hog said six more weeks of winter I am pretty sure. Ba Humbug
Did you take that picture? It’s gorgeous. And your post made me want to move to Louisiana.
It is not a photo actually a painting. Louisiana can be quite intoxicating.
Maybe it’s because I grew up here, but I look forward to the days when it’s so hot that you can barely breathe.
I think If I hadn’t grown up with the snow I would feel the same way, because I feel that way about winter and the first snow.
Wow, that picture is gorgeous! I can’t wait until spring comes to NY. We haven’t had much snow, but it’s been cold. I’m tired of being cold all the time, give me heat and humidity any day! 🙂

Spring time in New York is beautiful.
Agreed, it’s just awful slow to show up sometimes.
How you made me long for sun and summer!
Oh and you have some time before spring arrives up there. I will enjoy it for you.
Thank you, dear heart. Yes, I hope we see some sun within the next 4 months.
